Not Belarusian, but not German

Despite the fact that Rammstein has positioned itself as a German band, its rhythm guitarist and backing vocalist Paul landers, German is not. The name landers is a musician borrowed from his first wife. His father, Anton Hirsch, was a native of Bohemia, and his mother, Erica, was born in Poland. During the Second World war, they both moved to the German city of Halle. There’s Anton and Erica met. The couple Hirsch has dedicated his life to the study of Slavic languages: later, the head of the family became a Professor in this field, and his wife took the position of teacher of Russian language in the economic technical school.

However, not all residents of East Germany have kept this knowledge in his memory. Now Lindemann almost did not understand Russian speech unlike his colleagues, Paul Landers, which was held in Moscow more than a year of his life.

There landers improved and consolidated their knowledge of the Russian language. And to communicate in Russian, he had not only school walls, but also in everyday life. Moreover, the Hirsch’s life in the Soviet capital is not limited.

During the holidays, the family went on holiday to the sea of Azov. It was there, in Ukraine, Paul landers first realize what the real need. As recalled by Paul, his father since could not tolerate eggs, because they were the only products that was enough. Such circumstances, according to Landers, taught him not to complain about life and to appreciate what you have. Despite the difficulties that Paul and his parents faced in the Soviet Union, the guitarist always wanted to go back.

Music of Russia

Back in Moscow, Paul Landers led the music. Although as a child the guitarist of Rammstein dreamed of becoming a sailor, he hoped that through this profession he will go abroad. As you know, in those years the inhabitants of the GDR to do so on their own initiative and not in connection with professional duties, was very problematic. And only thanks to happy coincidence, Paul found his dad’s old guitar, and then followed his sister began to learn to play the piano. In 1983, landers, along with his friends founded a punk rock band. And 3 years later the fate brought him together with Till Lindemann, who later became a soloist of the band Rammstein.

It is a part of Rammstein’s Paul landers and has traveled almost the whole world. Repeatedly group been on tour in Russia. According to the landers, on the emotional side the Russian fans are at the top of Rammstein, as the Russians always show the most enthusiasm during the concerts.
