7 years Later after this battle, the German publicist Johann Frisch in Germany published a brochure which currently is the only more or less detailed documentary evidence describing the appearance and character of the old robber-woman-old women Alena Arzamasskaya and her last hours of life.
As she had been captured and executed
Frisch, who fought in the Russian army as a mercenary, wrote that Arzamas shooting a bow, killed a few soldiers of the provincial troops. When the “ammunition” was exhausted, she fell at the altar, and in this position was captured. The mercenary said in his pamphlet that the top of the robes, Alena wore armor and was a very strong woman – not one of the soldiers managed to pull the bowstring, fired atamansha.
more than a dozen prisoners, among whom was Feodor Sidorov, by order of Yuri Dolgoruky hung over the river Moksha. Arzamas Governor ordered to burn in a log cabin as a heretic and witch, abandoning the fire and its “thieves ‘ letters” and “the magic roots”.
Previously the nun endured the torture, never scream, than shook his executors established the idea that atamansha actually a witch. Johann Frisch was a witness to her execution.
Before his death in chains Alena Arzamasskaya productioncarried the short speech, the meaning of which boiled down to the fact that with a larger number of the rebels to Yuri Dolgoruky rebels would not win. Then atamansha-the crone herself jumped into the burning log, and met his death. It is noteworthy that on the ashes then do not found the chains that were shackled dead. Therefore, the people have long lived tradition that the “Russian Joan of Arc” was still alive, and must return to re-raise the people to revolt.
