ATOR proposed to extend visas for tourists planning a trip to Russia

the Association of tour operators of Russia sent a letter to the foreign Ministry and the FSB with a request to grant opportunity to foreign tourists who have purchased a visa to enter Russia, but was unable to attend due to coronavirus, to visit the country during the year after the pandemic COVID-19, according to RIA Novosti.

In the organization drew attention to the fact that 150 thousand of tourists planning to stay in Russia until July 2024. However, due to the threat of the spread of coronavirus and close the borders they will not be able to make the trip. This raises the problem of loss of funds spent on the acquisition of a visa allowing to enter the territory of the Russian Federation.

In ATOR said that if you do not take action to support them, the need for re-registration of permission to enter make foreign tourists refuse to travel to Russia. In addition, the organisation pointed to the experience of foreign tour operators, which carry the dates of their clients at a later date.

Also in ATOR urged the foreign Ministry and the FSB not to abandon the introduction of electronic tourist visas from 1 January 2024. The organization believes that this measure will allow to quickly restore the tourism industry.

Previously, the Federal tourism Agency reported that nearly all the organized tourists have returned from other countries to Russia. Almost 160 thousand people came to the homeland from the territory of the 43 foreign countries. The official representative of Russian foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova said that Russia will make every effort to return citizens to their homeland.
