History 02/03/20 Ivan Zemnuhov: what happened to the chief of staff of “Young guard”
As is known, the underground organization “Young guard” appeared in the German-occupied Ukrainian city of Krasnodon. It lived there its leaders. One of them was Ivan Zemnuhov. Just a few months after the creation of the “Young guard” zemnukhova killed.
Underground
In fact, Ivan Zemnuhov was born in the Ryazan region. In the Ukraine his parents are ordinary peasants decided to move when Ivan was about 8 years old. There Zemnukhova, and found the news that the war began. Their son immediately went to the draft Board, but the condition on the front it never took. Instead, Ivan was determined to work in a local school.
Soon, the miners of Krasnodon was occupied by the Germans. Citizens (mostly young people) launched an active clandestine activities against the invaders. Zemnuhov also not left behind. When, in September 1942, a small and disparate group of underground workers joined in the “Young guard” Ivan became one of its leaders, namely chief of staff. He was in charge of Krasnodon club, which gathered young.
Torture
At the beginning of 1943 Germans managed to get on the underground and arrest 2 of them. On hearing this, Zemnuhov he went to the police, hoping to help friends. He was sure that the occupants no longer suspect. Home, he never came back.
the Interrogation of Ivan zemnukhova did the policeman Vasily Alexandrovich Sulikowski (according to other sources his name was Sulikowski), who even among his colleagues was known as a master of sophisticated torture. He invented and implemented different methods of torture of detainees and shot them.
Vasily Alexandrovich almost never parted with whips, of which he had great variety. Them he beat Ivan ZemnuhovVA. In addition, Sulikowski hung zemnukhova and legs, and he was in the head-down position for a long time. According to witnesses, and in particular sisters Molodogvardeytsev, he drove the needle under the fingernails. However Zemnuhov no one gave a spat finally, in the face Sulikowska.
the Death of
Despite the torture, Ivan was sent home cheerful note, informed the family that he was okay. January night tormented zemnukhova and his fellow policemen threw one of the vertical shafts of the city. From there their bodies were removed by local residents. 19-year-old Ivan zemnukhova, who was subsequently awarded the title hero of the Soviet Union, together with other young buried in a mass grave.
Just a few weeks after the death zemnukhova, Soviet troops liberated Kiev from German occupation. Together with the retreating Nazis fled, and the chief of police Krasnodon Basil Sulikowski.
