Heroes 03/03/20 Alexander Pankratov: Soviet political officer, first accomplished the feat Matrosov

Alexander K. Pankratov was born in Vologda province. He was born in the village Abakshino in 1917 in a large family. Pankratov-senior died young, so Alexander was forced to grow up earlier than his peers. While still in school, he completed courses of electricians, then got speciality of Turner, and 4 years later was already working on one of Vologda plants. At the place of work of the young Turner was characterized only positively, he even was a member of the Stakhanov movement.
In 1938, Alexander Pankratov was called up for military service. But even there he continued to study in particular studied in the party school. That is why next year Pankratova sent to school, and then military-political school. Then Alexander and became a Junior political officer.

When in 1941 the Great Patriotic war-Pankratov was only 24. In August of the same year he died. Then Alexander took part in the fighting in Veliky Novgorod. One of the occupied enemy sites Kirillov monastery. The high walls of the monastery were well defended by the Germans, and to observe and adjust fire from there, they were very convenient.

The enemy machine gun firing almost non-stop, so moving on was impossible. However Pankratov decided to crawl to the walls in order to use grenades to destroy the weapon. But nothing came of it. Without thinking, Alexander Pankratov has covered the gun with his own body. His companions were able to take advantage of a short lull and broke into the monastery.
the memory of the heroes
now undeservedly forgotten feat Alexander Pankratov, who in 1942 was awarded the title of hero of the Soviet Union, are once again beginning to remember. Although, it should be noted that in their native lands Pankratova in Novgorod immortalized his memory many years ago.
So in 1965 on the banks of the river Maly volkhovets Novgorod established character granite monument was named after him one of the streets of the city. In Vologda, where she studied Pankratov, a stele and a memorial plaque.
