Putin approved the punishment for violations in the vote on the Constitution

President Vladimir Putin signed a law on criminal responsibility for violations during the voting on amendments to the Constitution. Relevant document posted by on the official portal of legal information.

In particular, the document introduces amendments to article 141 of the Criminal code “Obstructing the exercise of electoral rights or work of election committees”, article 142 “Falsification of selective documents, referendum documents”, article 142.1 “Falsification of voting results”, and article 142.2 “Illegal issuance and receipt of the ballot, ballot for voting in the referendum.”

For violation of these paragraphs, the law provides for criminal penalties of fines or imprisonment for up to 4 years.

Previously, the state Duma introduces administrative responsibility for violations during the vote on the Constitution.
