Prime Minister of Russia Michael Mishustin has appointed Andrew Lipova head of Roskomnadzor. The corresponding decree was published on the website of the Cabinet.

“to Appoint Lipova Andrei Yurievich head of the Federal service for supervision in the sphere of Telecom, information technologies and mass communications”, – stated in the document.

Since may 2012, Roskomnadzor head Alexander Zharov. Earlier Mishustin freed him from office. Zharov was suspended from his duties on his own initiative.

Zharov has held the position of head of Roskomnadzor may 3, 2012. From 2008 to 2012 he was Deputy Minister of Telecom and mass communications of the Russian Federation. In 2004 and 2006, Zharov was assistant and then press Secretary to the Prime Minister of Russia Mikhail Fradkov.

Since March 20, Roskomnadzor demanded that the owners of the radio station “Echo of Moscow” and social network “Vkontakte” remove the fakes on the coronavirus.
