ATOR proposed to freeze payments to travelers for the cancelled tours

the Association of tour operators of Russia (ATOR) has proposed the Russian government to freeze payments to travelers for the cancelled tours until 2024. This was reported on the website ATOR.

“in fact, the tourist will be asked for this period, certificate of Deposit, confirming the preservation of its assets in the tour operator and the possibility of their use in a certain period of time,” explained the Association.

ATOR appealed to Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and Deputy Minister of economic development Sergey Galkin, asking to consider the new package of measures to support the tourism industry in the spread of the coronavirus. The Association noted that Germany had given the tour operators and airlines such right. France also has an 18-month period, during which tour operators are able to settle with consumers for the cancelled tours.

In ATOR believe that to make such a step necessary and in Russia. The appeal says that it will be the most important financial support and guarantor of the state in the correctness of the operators solutions for the fulfillment of obligations to consumers.

Earlier ATOR asked for foreign tourists, who bought a visa for entry into Russia, but were unable to attend, the opportunity to visit the country during the year after the pandemic. The organization drew attention to the fact that 150 thousand of tourists planning to stay in Russia until July, but due to closure they will not be able to make the trip.

the foreign Ministry and the FSB urged not to abandon the introduction of electronic tourist visas from 1 January 2024. The organization believes that this will allow to quickly restore the tourism industry.
