“Our data show that SARS-CoV-2 has infected the population of cats in Wuhan during the outbreak,” – said in the published study.

the Staff of the Wuhan Institute of Virology studied blood samples taken from 102 cats after the outbreak of coronavirus and 39 before the outbreak. It turned out that before the spread COVID-19 animals were not infected with the virus, but after flash 15 of the 102 cats were found to be infected.

“We have found antibodies to the SARS-CoV-2 in the body more than ten cats from Wuhan. This indicates that something similar could happen in other regions of Earth that are affected by the epidemic”, – experts noted.

Previously, scientists had conducted an experiment that showed that the most vulnerable to coronavirus animals are cats.

In the study, experts had infected COVID-19 different animals. Among them were ducks, pigs, ferrets, cats, chicken and dogs. The experiment showed that rather quickly got infected with the coronavirus group of ferrets. At the same time, the infection had no effect on their health. But the most vulnerable COVID-19 turned out to be cats.
