The International Radio Exhibition (IFA) will also take place in 2024 despite the Corona crisis – but in a significantly different form than before. According to a current press release, a three-day event is planned from September 3rd to 5th. However, since “health and safety” has “highest priority” in times of the corona virus, the fair is divided and the number of participants is limited. The communication speaks of an “IFA 2024 Special Edition”.

While the audience has to stay outside this time, trade visitors will only have access with prior registration or invitation. The IFA is also to be divided into four independent events that take place in parallel. Only 1,000 participants are scheduled per day and event. They also wanted to take into account all the necessary requirements so as not to endanger the health of the registered participants. In addition to distance rules, this also includes careful checks. The concept was created “in close coordination with the responsible authorities in Germany”.

“After all the event failures in the past few months, our industry urgently needs this platform to present their innovations,” explains Jens Heithecker, Executive Director of IFA Berlin. In his opinion, virtual events are helpful, but they lack “the human emotional connection that events like IFA Berlin make so incredibly valuable.”

Among other things, because it must currently be assumed that travel restrictions will still apply at the time of the event, however, the plan is nevertheless to provide appropriate streaming and chat offers.
