Short introduction

Xavier Naidoo was born in Mannheim on October 2, 1971 and is a successful German soul and R&B singer, music producer and founding member of the “Söhne Mannheims” group.

Early life

The parents of Xavier Kurt Naidoo, who was born on October 2, 1971, are from South Africa. The mother worked as a seamstress, the father as a welder. He grew up in Mannheim and enjoyed a Roman Catholic upbringing.

During school time, Xavier Naidoo sang in church and school choirs, became a member of a gospel choir and a regional band. He also recorded a CD with the gospel choir. After middle maturity, an apprenticeship as a cook and some jobs that he took on, he went to the USA and recorded his first solo album as “Kobra”.

Career

In 1994, when he was a background singer in the Rödelheimer Hartreim project, he was discovered and developed by 3p as a solo star. The single “Freisein”, which Xavier Naidoo recorded together with Sabrina Setlur, made him known.

Xavier Naidoo’s first German album “Out of this World”, released in 1998, has sold over a million copies. The song of the same name was also released on a Bravo hits CD. In 1999 he received three well-known and important awards: an Echo, a Comet and an “MTV Europe Music Award”. In the years that followed, further awards followed, such as a second “MTV Europe Music Award” in 2002.

In 2000 the first singles and the album were released by the music group “Söhne Mannheims”, which was founded in 1995 by Xavier Naidoo and others. This release led to the dispute and the end of the collaboration between Xavier Naidoo and the 3p label.

In 2002 followed Xavier Naidoo’s second solo album “Interlude – Everything for the Lord”, 2005 “Telegram for X”, 2009 “Everything can get better” and 2013 “With my soul” and 2016 the continuation of his first album “Not of this world 2” . There are also a few albums and single releases that the “Söhne Mannheims” have published, of which he is still a member.

Xavier Naidoo was also a juror and coach for the casting show “The Voice of Germany” in 2011 and 2012. With Kool Savas, he also won the 2012 Federal Vision Song Contest. In 2019, Xavier Naidoo was a jury member on the show “Deutschland sucht den Superstar”, and he is expected to be that in 2024 as well.

Career highlights

The highlight of Xavier Naidoo’s career was certainly his first album “Out of this World”, which sold over a million copies. Even if the following albums all sold well, this brand could not (yet) be topped. In total, Xavier Naidoo has sold more than 4.5 million records as a solo artist, and there is no end in sight.

Famous quotes

Many quotes from Xavier Naidoo can be found in his songs. But with his political statements – for example in an interview – but also with his actions, he sometimes infests. In an interview he made a statement that was quoted several times: “I was described as homophobic, as an esoteric spinner and as a religious fanatic. I am none of that any more than I am right-wing populist. ” For example, Xavier Naidoo filed a lawsuit against Federal President Horst Köhler in 2010 for treason and said the following: “He (Federal President Horst Köhler) is said to have participated in the fact that Germany entered into monetary union without constitutional legitimacy.”

Success tips

As a juror and coach for “The Voice of Germany” in 2011 and 2012, and currently as a juror for “Deutschland sucht den Superstar”, Xavier Naidoo has given numerous budding artists valuable tips.

Here is an important tip from Xavier Naidoo for everyone. This comes from the song “Don’t give up”. “Do not give yourself up. Even if everyone does. Don’t give up! Because it doesn’t help if you don’t believe in yourself. ”

Another important tip says that you should make alliances and team up with like-minded people. It also comes from a song: “What we cannot do alone, we can do together.”
