Short introduction

Kontra K is a rapper born and raised in Berlin. His real name is Maximilian Diehn. At the beginning of his career, he sold himself off the street with a tough image and rough rap. Early life

Kontra K grew up in Berlin under difficult conditions. At the age of 16 he left school and dedicated himself to rap music. Career

In 2006 his career started to develop. Together with the rapper KiezSpezial, he founded the Rapduo full contact. The rap duo caught the attention of the rapper and producer Kaisa (formerly: Kaisaschntt), who signed the two under his label Hell Raisa. This collaboration gave rise to the Fight Club Mixtape Vol. 1. After a short period of collaboration, however, the label broke up.

Kontra K, who had gotten to know other rappers like Fatal and Skinny Al there, did not remain idle, but instead founded his own label with his colleagues. The label DePeKa Records. They were able to win Distributionz as a sales partner. Here Kontra K also got to know the producer Big Flexx, with whom he still works successfully today.

In 2010 Kontra K released his debut album “Dobermann”. A Dupstep mixtape called “Electrosmog” appeared two years later. In the same year his second album “Was die Zeit brings” was released, which was one of Distributionz’s best-selling albums and had made a decisive contribution to the fact that Distributionz became Amazon’s Label of the Month in April.

The following year the EP “Auf Teufel come out” and the third album by Kontra K “12 Runden” were released. This could reach 8th place in the German album charts.

Kontra k became more and more successful and well-known labels became interested in him. In May 2014 he then agreed with the label “Four Music” and signed a contract. How fruitful this collaboration was was already evident when the EP “Wolves” was first published. The album “Out of the shadows into the light”, released in February 2015, did not disappoint expectations either. His fourth album hit number two on the German charts.

Kontra K continued to produce with the result of his fifth solo album “Labyrinth” in 2016. For this he could, among other things, win rappers like RAF Camora and Bonez as well as the band Haudegen for a collaboration. The interactive video that was produced for “At Your Side” contributed significantly to the success of the album. On May 27, 2016, the album hit No. 1 on the German charts. Inspired by success, another album was released the following year. His sixth solo album “Gute Nacht” will be released in April 2017. He had previously ended working with the Four Music label. Kontra K said about this decision that it was an amicable separation. The sixth album is released under the label BMG.

The number 1 album “Earth and Bones” followed in 2018. The following year 2019, Kontra K released another solo album. “They wanted water, but they get gasoline” was able to establish itself on the top of the charts.

Career highlights

Kontra K has managed to work its way out of nothing. His shows are extremely popular. In 2018 he was able to reach 70,000 spectators with just seven concerts. An enormous achievement.

Kontra K was able to place his albums “Labyrinth”, “Good Night”, “Earth & Bones” and “They wanted to get water but gasoline” at number 1 on the German album charts. Three of these albums achieved gold status.

His income from streaming platforms is also lucrative. Kontra K has 2.3 million listeners every month on Spotify alone. With his most popular tracks, such as “Last Tear”, “Lead”, “Warning”, “Everything she wants” and “Colors”, Kontra K, according to the statistics that Spotify publishes, should have already raised a total of around 810,000 euros.

His YouTube channel is also going well. With a 55 percent share of sales through advertising revenue, Kontra K earns around 40,000 euros per month on average with around 11 million views.

Kontra K also sells its own fashion brand with “Loyal Clothing”. So far, no profit of Loyal Distributions GmbH has been deposited with the Federal Gazette, in which Kontra K is entered as managing director.
