David Guetta is a DJ and music producer from France who has sold over 9 million albums worldwide.
The musician was born in Paris as Pierre David Guetta and grew up there. His father is an immigrant from Morocco and worked as a sociologist, his mother is Belgian and psychoanalyst and philosophy teacher. At the age of 14, David Guetta started organizing small beach parties for friends and played on his own playlists. After discovering his talent as a musician, he began to work as a DJ in discos at the age of 16. Afterwards, however, he removed some of his passion and worked as a nightclub owner, focusing mainly on the organization of events and parties.
The French DJ released his debut album “Just a Little More Love” in 2002 at the age of 33. Just like the following albums, this was a success and made David Guetta known beyond the borders of France. Just 5 years later he received the award for the world’s best DJ at the World Music Awards.
His first worldwide number one hit followed in 2009 with “I Gotta Feeling”, which Guetta produced for the band “The Black Eyed Peas”. That same year, his album “One Love” was released. With over three million units sold, it became the DJ’s greatest success to date and marked his final international breakthrough. In particular, the single “When Love Takes Over” was able to top the charts in several countries.
Among other things, the reason for the great popularity was that David Guetta changed his musical style and, instead of electronic house music, turned to electronic pop music that was more suitable for the masses. After further successful releases, David Guetta started to do business and founded his own music label “Jack Back Records” in 2012, which is still active today.
By 2020 a total of seven albums and 98 singles by the DJ have been released. David Guetta has sold over 90 million records worldwide, including nine million in Germany alone, for which he received 22 gold and 25 platinum records. In Germany, an album was able to position itself on the charts at number one, as well as four singles by the DJ. David Guetta’s fortune arose mainly from income from the sale of sound recordings. In addition, there are fees for his tours and appearances at various festivals, such as “Tomorrowland” in Belgium.

Half-brother David Guettas, Bernard Guetta, is a well-known French journalist and politician and was even elected to the European Parliament in 2019.
David Guetta was discovered by Thomas Bangalter, part of the DJ duo “Daft Punk”, who played a song by the musician and then sent it to the record label Virgin Records.
