Short introduction

Probably the most popular member of the Backstreet Boys, the most successful boy group ever, Nick Carter became a megastar. In the nineties the girls’ hearts literally flew to him – but the singer can smile more than just charming and still works hard for his success.

Early life

Nickolas Gene Carter, nicknamed Nick, was born in Jamestown, New York, in early 1980. The family moved to Florida in the mid-eighties. He is the eldest child of his parents, who divorced in 2003, and has four siblings. The best known is singer Aaron Carter. Over the years, great disputes developed in Carter’s family, which led to a long-term break in contact.

In Florida, young Nick Carter attended many different castings for films, commercials and singing, which brought him his first experiences. So he was allowed to play a small role in “Edward with the scissor hands” at the age of ten. In 1993 Carter finally attended a casting by boy band maker Lou Pearlman, who composed the Backstreet Boys out of Carter and four other young people.

Nick Carter was the youngest member of the Backstreet Boys, with whom he made his big breakthrough in the mid-1990s. As a result, the band released numerous hits that are still known today, such as “Everybody” from 1997, “I Want It That Way” and “Larger Than Life” from 1999 and “Shape Of My Heart” from 2000. The band celebrated the greatest successes and record breaking with their album “Millennium” from 1999.

In 2002 Nick Carter released his first solo album “Now or Never”. This happened at the same time as Justin Timberlake from * NSYNC. Compared to this, Carter was initially unable to build on his band success, but for “Now or Never” it received praise from the critics and successfully released a single called “Help Me”.

At first Carter concentrated on the reunion with the Backstreet Boys, with whom he is still at the top of the charts – for example with the latest work “DNA” from 2019. The musician never let go of his solo career. So released the albums “I’m Taking Off” and “All American” in 2011 and 2015 and worked with other musicians such as Jennifer Paige and Jordan Knight. For Nick Carter, personal realization and development is very important.

Career highlights

Back in 1997 Nick Carter had great success with the Backstreet Boys and their album “Backstreet’s Back”. The single “Everybody” landed at number 2 on the German charts, a sold-out tour followed. What followed two years later was incredible: the album “Millennium” turned out to be the best-selling album in the first week of its release. The group set a record, received platinum in 28 countries, and sold “Millennium” thirty million times.

To date, the Backstreet Boys are simply unstoppable. Her newest work “DNA” spontaneously entered No. 1 on the US charts and went on a world tour. With this band Nick Carter sold a total of 130 million records. He was nominated for the Grammy five times and won four Billboard Music Awards and seven MTV awards.

“Now or Never” was not a mega-success for Nick Carter like the Backstreet Boys, but gave him a first foundation. He stayed in the top 30 of the US charts for nine weeks and his single “Help Me” remained in the top 20 for several weeks in Great Britain and Germany. Later Carter was particularly successful with his collaborations. The 2009 release “Beautiful Lie” with singer Jennifer Paige stayed in the German charts for eleven weeks.
