Short introduction

Stefan Mross was called the prodigy of folk music more than 30 years ago. The folk music icon Karl Moik made the trumpeting boy a star, even if the paths to the stage were sometimes covered with stones.

Early life

Stefan Mross grew up sheltered in Traustein / Upper Bavaria. His parents Eberhard and Stefanie and his bigger brother Klaus had a harmonious family life. After kindergarten and elementary school, he went not only to secondary school, but also to music school at the age of 11. The reason was a gift for the 11th birthday: a trumpet.

Career and further life of the musician

In addition to the music school, he played in a band, the youth band Jung-Otting. Mross was considered very talented at the time. With a lot of practice and perseverance, he managed to make an appearance at a private wedding, at which Karl Moik was also present as the groom’s brother-in-law. Moik was thrilled by little Stefan and took him under his wing. At that time, Stefan was only 13 years old. In Moik’s show “Like the Old Sings”, Stefan was allowed to present himself to a television audience for the first time. In the same year he won the Grand Prix of Folk Music for Austria in July 1989 with the title “Heimwehmelodie”.

After the victory, the career of the Moik pupil increased rapidly. Stefan finished school by completing high school and went to the Salzburg Mozarteum, where he began studying and undergoing professional training.

When Stefan was just 19 years old, Stefanie Hertel entered his life. At first they both made music together very successfully. From the intimate friendship a young love developed, from which the daughter Johanna emerged in 2001. In 2006 the relationship was crowned with a romantic wedding.

The marriage only lasted until 2012. Mross married production assistant Susanne Schmidt quite quickly, in 2016 he was divorced from her. This marriage gave birth to two children, a daughter and a son. Until the separation, Mross lived in Unterwössen, in the Upper Bavarian district of Traunstein.

Since April 2017, he has been dating singer Anna-Carina Woitschack. Stefan met her in summer 2016 during his Sunday television program. At the “Advent Festival of 100,000 Lights” (ARD), he recently proposed to her.

Highlights of his career

After Austria, Mross then took part in the 1994 Grand Prix of Folk Music for Germany. The title “Holy Mountains” (Montagne sante) earned him second place. Together with his partner Stefanie Hertel at the time, they tried to get started in 1995 at the Grand Prix of Folk Music for Germany. With the title “A song for every ray of sunshine”, they took second place again, like Stefan had previously done alone. When he tried again in 2002 to compete for Germany, he did not make it to the final.

From now on Mross was seen again and again in the most diverse television programs. He has only played the trumpet little in recent years. In the meantime, he also received vocational training. For several years he has been singing both solo and in duets, as Stefanie Hertel did at the time. Stefan Mross always shows television programs and tours with other artists. In 2009 he celebrated his 20th anniversary on stage. To this end, he went on a major tour of Germany with his wife at the time.

Mross has been a regular presenter on the ARD program “Always Again Sundays” since 2005. This will be broadcast live from the Europa-Park in Rust.

Famous quotes

Famous quotes are not conceivable for Stefan Mross, but a slogan. Again and again on Sundays he will connect him with the eponymous ZDF television program throughout his life. He always comes on Sundays, he is always there on Sundays.

Amazing facts

In the summer of 2014, Stefan Mross went bad during a live broadcast. He collapsed in front of the camera. Too hot curry sausage was to blame for having to cancel the moderation. Guido Cantz, who happened to be present, jumped in and moderated the show through to the end.

Stefan Mross came into public talk several times. Again and again there were allegations that his playing on the trumpet was not real, but came from the tape. Since the musicians are shown on music programs on television, but all background music is played back via playback, hardly anyone in the past could decide who performed the trumpet. Alexandre Malempré therefore sued for his import rights in six pieces before the Frankfurt Regional Court, in which Mross stated that he was the player and not Alexandre Malempré. After nine years, the trial ended with an out-of-court settlement. Mross tried to rehabilitate himself with a live performance. However, he did not play his piece flawlessly.

To date, Stefan Mross has not been able to shake off any excitement. Just three months after Stefanie’s divorce, Moik claimed on a television show that Stefanie Hertel and Stefan Mross had been forced to marry in order to drive sales of their music projects up. The claims about the fraud marriage also made Stefanie difficult. The best way to know how it ended was by the two of them.

Again and again negative headlines were written about his excessive alcohol consumption. To this end, Stefan Mross has withdrawn very much in recent years.

Conclusion: In addition to all his private and professional capers, Stefan Mross is probably not the greatest musician of the century. Nevertheless, he manages to inspire millions of people in his concerts and especially in his television programs. Someone has to imitate him first.
