Early life

Nusret Gökçe was born in poor conditions on August 9, 1983 in the Turkish city of Erzurum. His father was a mine worker. Since the family could not afford much and had to bring in more money, Gökçe dropped out of middle school at the age of 14. He started an apprenticeship as a butcher, which he did extensively: there was no vacation and Gökçe had to work 18 hours a day.

In 2009, Nusret Gökçe traveled to Argentina to expand his skills, perfect his meat cutting skills and gain more experience. There he initially worked at various cattle farms, butchers and in restaurants. He has also traveled to other countries: among other things, he visited the United States, where he was able to gain further experience as a cook and innkeeper.

Gökçe returned to Turkey in 2010. There he teamed up with an investor and founded his own restaurant chain under the name “Nusr-Et”.

After years of hard work and preparation, Nusret Gökçe can now call a total of 14 restaurants that are widespread worldwide. His restaurant chain of the same name, Nusret, extends from the United States to Turkey, Greece and the United Arab Emirates.

Nusret Gökçe’s unconventional way of serving steaks has become very popular with celebrities over the years. Celebrities like singer Rihanna, fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger and soccer players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Lukas Podolski Gökçes restaurants have already paid a visit. If requested, Gökçe can also cut his guests personally at the table.
