Short introduction

Renato Simunovic, better known as RIN, is a German rapper who has achieved notable success in the German-language charts with his albums Eros (2017) and Nimmerland (2019) as well as several singles and collaborations. In general, it is considered a new discovery because it celebrated its first notable successes in 2016. However, there is still much to be expected from him and experts predict a great musical future for him.

Early life

RIN has Croatian and Bosnian roots, but grew up only in Bietigheim-Bissingen near Stuttgart, where he was born on June 28, 1994.

Before he graduated from high school in his hometown, RIN came into contact with music for the first time. He says of himself that he was the type you could never find in your ear without headphones. His love and interest in rap grew until he started battling with other teenagers, or freestyle, more for fun. In these situations, his friends’ reactions were mostly very positive, so much so that RIN began to write his lines, which gave him a new hobby. This hobby soon became a passion and RIN says of himself that he has only written texts for almost a year.

Career

Together with the rapper Caz, RIN started making music in 2012. The two then released RIN’s first track called Ljubav / Beichtstuhl in 2015.

With his first song, RIN was able to arouse the interest of some producers and recorded an EP with The Breed from the label Alles or Nix, which due to some differences never appeared. At Live from Earth, however, RIN found a suitable label that has supported him to this day and also helped him to his first great success by getting to know the Austrian rapper Yung Hurn, with whom he released an EP, which has also been unpublished to date, and the track record Bianco, who became a summer hit in 2016.
In 2017, the label Divison Recordings signed RIN. On September 1 of the same year, RIN’s debut album EROS with 15 tracks was released and was a great success. Among other things, he was awarded the 1 Live Krone, a German music prize, in the “Best Album” category and won the “Best Newcomer National” category at the Hiphop.de Awards, also in 2017.

In 2018 RIN did not release another album, but his mixtape Planet Megatron achieved high chart placements in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, especially with the song Dior 2001, which was gold in Germany and platinum in Austria.

In the first half of 2019, RIN released several songs, including the hit track Up in Smoke, which all achieved high chart positions. As a result, expectations were very high when RIN announced his second album on September 27th of the year and released the song Farbergé as a first taste. Neverland, the second album, was released on December 6, 2019 and again achieved high chart positions in the entire German-speaking area. There was also the album in combination with a deluxe box in combination with Nike.

In some interviews at the end of 2019, RIN announced that it was already waiting for another album, which indicates that he is only at the beginning of his career.

Career highlights

Among the highlights in RIN’s career are many of the prizes already mentioned, such as the title “Best Newcomer National” at the Hiphop.de Awards 2017. Previously, stars such as Haftbefehl and Farid Bang had won this prize.

Another special success was achieved by RIN in collaboration with Yung Hurn in summer 2016 with Bianco. Although RIN was still very new to the scene at the time, the song was a huge hit and voted Song of the Year by Juice magazine.

RINS tours 2017/18 and 2024 are in great demand and are already sold out in many locations and are therefore also one of the great successes of his career so far.

In addition, his collaboration with Nike on his second album is considered a special highlight. The collaboration with such a large brand clearly shows that RIN still has a great future ahead of it.

Famous quotes

Bianco, Bruderi, Dari always wants to pull it
If you try once, you’ll be in love forever
– from Bianco

I’m going out with my boys today, baby
And she asks, and she asks:
Are you still coming to my house today, baby? infant
But I shoote, shoote, baby, alley oop
– from Bros.

Baby, come and get on the S-Bahn
Because real love doesn’t need extras
– from Aretha Franklin Freestyle

Success tips

RIN often criticizes the rap scene that everything is more than music. For him it is not “promo phases, the best video blogs and the biggest Twitter beef” that are important, but the meaningfulness of his texts and his music.

He pays attention to authenticity and quality in his songs. He attributes his great success to the fact that a broad mass of young adults can identify with what he describes in his songs.

So his tip for success is to stay with yourself and do what you are passionate about. Because in his opinion, forced style can be distinguished qualitatively from real feelings.
